The Journey North
Travelling is one thing. Arriving is another. And moving to settle in a new area is something else entirely.
The longest time I’ve ever spent in one place currently stands at 14 years, and I’ve never truly felt “settled.” In the back of my mind, there loomed the spectre of change, the pull of something new, the need to move.
This time it’s different. This time, the decision was ours and we want this to be our last move, to a place that speaks to us, that excites us, that offers new adventures. Here. I’m keeping track of our journey from decluttering to selling, from losing weight to getting fit for our new life in the north.
Most of all, I’m curious how this move will affect my writing when – for most of my life – I’ve used stories to change situations that were out of my control and dream myself into worlds that suited me better than the real one.
Like our physical move, it’s a journey of self-discovery, and I’m excited to get underway.
